Family Visit in Albuquerque, NM

I made it to Albuquerque, NM where I have some family. My grandmother’s sister and her daughter and daughter’s family were all there. It had been a very long time, over 10 years since I had last seen some of them. It was so good to connect.

Marion, my grandmother’s sister, was looking much older. She was her own sweet, gentle, self that I remembered from all those years ago. Her husband, Malcom, had long since passed away. He was a gentleman and a good husband to Marion.

Marion talked about their marriage and the joys of it. She talked about Malcom’s love of sailboats and their love for each other. As we talked, her descendants filled the house. I enjoyed getting to know Lynnette Rogers who is Marion’s granddaughter. Her children filled the house with youthful energy and laughter. It was touching to see. I’d met Linda (Marion’s daughter) many years ago, but this was like meeting her for the first time. Roger is Linda’s husband and he is an honest and straight forward man who is easy to get along with.

I’m so glad that I was able to come out and visit. It means a lot to see Marion and I think it meant a lot to her as well.

  1. It was great having Jamal for dinner and conversation about his travels and catching up on family. We hope he will get his motorcycle fixed quickly so we have time to see some of the sites around here in Albuquerque.
